PSL 2018 | Need family’s permission to play in Pakistan, says Shane Watson

As the PSL is reaching its final leg of games and five of the six teams are in contention of making it to the playoffs, the battlefield is intensifying. The Quetta Gladiators sit second on the table with 8 points from 7 games and look to be in good position to be able to make it to the playoffs. The league’s top scorer, Shane Watson said that he would require his family’s permission to be allowed to play the playoffs, which will be held in Pakistan.

"At this point in time, I am still undecided. Obviously, the decision point will come in a couple of weeks and that decision isn't so much my own as it is my family's - who are the most important part of my life,” said Watson reported Sky Sports

Since the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan players, no International cricket was allowed to be conducted in Pakistan. Six players from the visiting team were injured in the terrorist attack and ICC took a decision of banning the conduction of games in Pakistan. But on May 22, 2015, Zimbabwe became the first team to play an international match in Pakistan after the 2009 terrorist attacks which the hosts won. But a World XI three-match T20 series came as a major boost as the players agreed to play in Pakistan almost after 8 years.

The league’s top scorer also said that he is focused more on the remaining three league games and is not thinking about the decision he would take to play in the playoffs or not.

We still have a few more games to go, so there is some more cricket to be played before we get to Pakistan," concluded Watson.
