Kagiso Rabada’s disciplinary issues continue; gets charged for a second time in Port Elizabeth Test

After Rabada was hit with a level two charge for the Smith incident where he had a shoulder contact with the Australian skipper while celebrating his wicket. Now, the 22-year old pacer has been reported with a fresh charge after he gave David Warner a send-off after claiming his wicket on the third day of the second Test at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth - the same day that he was contesting a more serious charge related to his on-field behaviour on the first day.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (March 12) morning confirmed that the fast bowler has been reported for a new level one offence. In a tweet, the ICC said that Rabada was yet to respond to the new charge. Cricbuzz reported a CSA spokesperson confirmed that the new charge had not been discussed when Rabada met with match referee Jeff Crowe on Sunday evening to explain why he should not be sanctioned for the shoulder contact he made with Steve Smith on day one.

Rabada is already sitting on five demerit points and if found guilty in the Steve Smith incident, he will receive 3 or 4 more demerit points and will be banned for the next two Test matches. The incident with David Warner will also lead to demerit points and deduction in match fee for the Proteas star. Hence, even if the 22-year old manages to escape the punishment for the Smith incident, he might be charged (or even banned) for giving Warner a send-off.
