The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that Shakib al Hasan will return to the squad for the remainder of the Nidahas Trophy. The star all-rounder will also lead the side in the do or die match against Sri Lanka as Bangladesh will try to secure a place in the final against India.

While Bangladesh played excellent cricket against Sri Lanka chasing down an almost impossible target of 214 runs, they failed to do that in any of the two games against India. However, ahead of the virtual semifinal match against Sri Lanka, the team have been boosted by the return of Shakib al Hasan, who has made a comeback to the side.

Earlier, Bangladesh's Test and T20I captain had sustained a finger injury during the home tri-series that involved Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe and which forced him to watch from the dugout. Shakib, who was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming edition of the IPL, was advised rest for the same and now will join the squad for the ongoing T20I tri-series in Sri Lanka.

He is expected to feature in the crucial encounter against Sri Lanka on March 16 and the match is very important for both the teams as the winner will play against India in the final on March 18.

Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have won a game each in the tournament so far. While Sri Lanka managed to beat India in the tournament opener, Bangladesh handed a 5-wicket loss to the hosts.
