VIDEO | Jasprit Bumrah defies physics to send Chris Lynn packing with a direct throw

When Jasprit Bumrah made his entry to international cricket back in 2016, he was touted as one of the worst fielders in the side. However, over the last three years, he has made himself a better fielder and today, his direct throw off a platform to the bowler’s end sent Chris Lynn packing.

Australia used an interesting strategy of demoting Lynn to the lower order, perhaps to avoid clashing with Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya. That seemed to have some sort of significance until the moment the Aussie openers set up the launchpad with a fifty partnership. However, Pandya broke their back with a four-wicket haul and when Lynn arrived at the crease, he was under a lot of pressure.

Bumrah bowled a cutter just outside off on the second ball of the 18th over to which Marcus Stoinis dropped into the point area and took a couple of strides for the single before backing out after seeing Lynn was not fully committing to it. He then angrily pointed the ball position to tell his partner that's single and he needed to run for it, but by then he had already crossed the half-way mark despite being in the doldrums.

Sensing their confusion, Bumrah collected the ball from the point region and though his body was not in a position to throw towards the non-striker’s end because he was falling backwards, he did that effectively by keeping it steady for a while and threw it perfectly. The ball hit the stumps before Lynn could arrive at the crease to give India a big wicket.
