After the Chennai Super Kings side managed to win a nail-biter against Rajasthan Royals, Imran Tahir has said that it was a combined team effort that helped CSK beat Rajasthan. The leggie also added that MS Dhoni lived up to his reputation of being cool and pull the team out of trouble.

After having a terrible start with the bat in yesterday’s game against the Royals, CSK came out victorious at the end thanks to some good bowling performance and amazing hitting by skipper Dhoni. After putting up a score of 175 in the first half, CSK got an early breakthrough with Deepak Chahar getting rid of opposition skipper Ajinkya Rahane of the second ball in the innings. The bowlers bowled well as a unit and Rajasthan was left reeling at 94/5 in the 14th over at one stage. Although Ben Stokes tried rescuing the Royals' innings during the run-chase, some good death bowling by CSK didn't let that happen at the end with Dwayne Bravo getting rid of the all-rounder in the last over.

Tahir, who ended up with excellent figures of 2/23 in four overs, said that the bowling unit performed well together to defend the total.

“I think as a bowling group we did really well. Even while batting, Mahi bhai played unbelievably well and set the tone for us. I’m just really happy with whatever we did as a team, as a group, from the batting point of view and the bowling point of view,” Tahir said during the press conference, reported Cricket Next.

After CSK were three down for only 27 runs while batting first, Dhoni and Suresh Raina stabilised the innings with a 61-run stand for the fourth wicket. Although, the left-hander departed for 36, Dhoni continued playing with full patience before unleashing some fascinating shots towards the end of the innings. The skipper’s 75-run innings off just 46 balls was filled with four boundaries and four sixes.

“You know Dhoni really well in these situations because he’s done this so many times, and that’s why he’s called mister cool. I’m just really pleased with everybody and I’m very happy with everyone’s success,” the South African spinner explained.
