Shakib Al Hasan has stayed back for the Indian Premier League and won't be joining his teammates in their preparatory camp ahead of the tri-nation series in Ireland. The decision came after Shakib saw an opportunity in the Sunrisers Hyderabad line-up as the foreign players are slated to leave early.

Jonny Bairstow will leave for England after the game against Chennai Super Kings and David Warner will follow suit after the team’s away game against Rajasthan Royals. As Afghanistan already declared their 15-man squad for the World Cup, Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan will also leave the team, which means Kane Williamson will be the only major foreigner in the team. Looking at the scenario, Shakib decided to stay back for the IPL instead of joining his teammates for the World Cup, reported Cricbuzz.

"Shakib was expected to arrive on April 23 but now that is not happening," Akram said. "He has informed us that as someone had left from the Sunrisers [set-up] there is a chance that he might play and so he wanted to stay back,” Akram Khan told Cricbuzz.

"We have given him the permission as we believe if he can play it will always be good for him leading up to the tri-nation in Ireland," Akram added.

Shakib recently recovered from a finger injury which prevented him from joining the national team for the tour of New Zealand and once he proved his fitness, he was granted a no-objection certificate to make himself available for SRH.
