Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma saw insult adding to his injury after the batsman was fined 15 percent of his match fee following his unruly behaviour upon getting dismissed during the match. This isn’t the first time for Sharma though, who was also fined previously against Kings XI Punjab.

The incident happened during the fourth over of the second innings when Mumbai Indians were chasing a target of 233. Sharma looked to be in good touch as he started well before struggling against Harry Gurney and before he could realize an in-slanter from round the wicket saw the batsman missing the ball while playing across the line.

The ball had struck on his back leg in front of the middle stump and KKR players were quick to appeal for an lbw appeal as the umpire raised his finger. Sharma decided to review it and the umpire’s decision was shown right on the giant screen. However, the frustrated opener was seen having few words with the umpire before leaving and even decided to knock down the bails with his bat at the bowler's end too.

It was a direct violation of the Indian Premier League’s code of conduct and the player has been fined 15 percent of his match fee. IPL later released a statement revealing that Sharma had admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s code of conduct and accepted the sanction.

“Mr. Sharma admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” an IPL release said.

Prior to this, Rohit Sharma was earlier fined Rs 12 lakh during the match against Kings XI Punjab when for his team was found having a slow over-rate.

Garnering 14 points from 12 matches, Mumbai Indians sit third on the table and are very close to sealing a berth in the playoffs. They are yet to play Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
