India's bowling coach Bharat Arun heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah’s ability to adapt his bowling to every situation. Arun called his five-fer in the second innings of the Antigua Test against West Indies as one of the best spells of fast bowling by an Indian he has ever witnessed.

After returning wicketless in the first innings, Bumrah turned it around to run through the Windies top order in a jiffy in the second and hand India a massive 318-run victory. His figures in the second innings, the least expensive five-fer by an Indian, read 8-3-7-5. His bowling coach Arun shed some light into how the young star adjusted his bowling from the first innings to turn lethal in the second.

"Bumrah is a skilful bowler. He is aware of the situation and he has adjusted himself beautifully to every situation. Even if you see the lengths he bowled in the first and the second innings, it is obviously a lot more different. He has pitched the ball a lot more up and he was getting appreciable movement,” Arun said, reported Cricbuzz.

"It was the best spell of fast bowling I have seen from an Indian in a long time. Their awareness for the situation and the ability to adapt to situations makes them what they (the Indian pace attack) are today," he continued.

Bumrah’s five-fer also took his Test tally to 50 wickets in only his 11th game, making him the fastest Indian pacer to the milestone. According to Arun, his consistently unorthodox nature of bowling is what makes him so successful.

"He is bowling consistently at over 140 clicks at any given point of time, and his action is not a very orthodox action. So it takes the batsman a second longer to pick up. Also, he is very accurate, which makes him so potent," Arun said.

Arun, who was recently re-appointed to his position, has been widely appreciated for putting together arguably the best pace attack Indian cricket has ever seen.

"Every bowler is different. My interaction with every bowler is also very different from one another. It is so important to know the mindsets of the bowlers. As a coach, understanding what is that small thing that you need to tweak to make the bowler better is very important,” Arun said.

"Fast bowling is a very strenuous activity. Unfortunately, it is very error-prone also. Being aware of these facts, we have taken care of the fast bowlers, to make sure their workloads are being monitored, to make sure they are fresh. The key to making sure they do well for long periods of time is by making sure their workloads are managed," Arun added.
