Ashes 2019 | Don't think the Aussies will be too attacking, opines Jofra Archer

Ferocious speedster Jofra Archer believes that the Australian team won't be too attacking in the upcoming fourth Test match, especially after facing defeat at Headingley. Archer feels that the visitors became overconfident in Leeds and that's the reason why they couldn't bowl England out.

Jofra Archer, who earlier pursued a banter with Steve Smith, sustained his attitude and made a comment on the visitors' loss at Headingly. The 24-year-old said that the Aussies got complacent and that cost them the third Test, after which the hosts levelled the series 1-1. The right-arm quick, however, revealed that England were relieved after the win in Leeds and that he's now hopeful for England to win the Ashes.

"That's the thing, never get complacent," Archer said on Wednesday (August 28), according to Cricbuzz. "To be fair, 359 runs is a lot of runs. The crowd started to get on their backs as well, I think they panicked a bit. They probably thought they were going to roll us if they got a few quick early wickets but they didn't and I'm glad we showed some resistance because the series isn't over and in the upcoming games I don't think they'll declare now.

Archer believes that Australia have lost a bit of confidence after losing the third Test and hence will be more defensive in order to retain the urn. "If they do have a chance I don't think they'll be too attacking. If they draw the series they still get to retain the Ashes. They were in the field for a long time. They got to the second new ball and still couldn't bowl us out. All of those mental facts should sit with them next game.

"Everyone would like to win the World Cup and the Ashes as well so there's no reason why we shouldn't go and do it now."

The fourth Test between England and Australia will start on September 4 at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester, followed by the fifth Test being held at The Oval in London from September 12.
