An ACB top management meeting reverted their decision to appoint Rashid Khan as skipper for all three formats as former skipper Asghar Afghan has been reappointed as Afghanistan's Captain across formats. Rashid and Mohammad Nabi had publicly criticised Asghar's removal prior to the World Cup.

In April, Asghar Afghan's four-year stint as captain of the Afghanistan team across formats came to an abrupt end, with the Afghanistan Cricket Board announcing Rahmat Shah, Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan taking charge of the Test, ODI and T20I teams respectively. The decision didn't go down well with Nabi and Rashid who said the timing was not correct, with the World Cup just around the corner.

After the world cup, ACB announced that Rashid Khan will lead Afghanistan across all formats, while former captain Asghar Afghan was appointed his deputy. The change came after Afghanistan lost all their matches at the World Cup under Gulbadin Naib, and the decision was welcomed massively. However, a change has now happened again despite Rashid leading Afghanistan to Test win in Bangladesh and giving Windies a fight for their money. Asghar Afghan will lead the side now.

"As per the decision by ACB Top management, Senior player Asghar Afghan is reappointed as team Afghanistan's Captain across formats," Afghanistan Cricket Board wrote on their Twitter handle.
