VIDEO | David Warner turns right handed, hits Chris Gayle for 6,4,4

Almost a year ago, it seemed that the world had fallen apart for David Warner as he was portrayed as the protagonist of the infamous Sandpapergate. While he is technically still under suspension, the Bangladesh Cricket decided to let him play in the Bangladesh Premier League. Playing for Sylhet Sixers he has already shown signs of his former self with a half century against Chittagong Vikings. 

Today, however, playing against Rangpur Riders, Warner decided to do something that is literally unthinkable. After Liton Das and Sabbir Rahman had given Sixers an incredible start by piling on 72 runs in eight overs, things slowed down after the latter was dismissed. But Warner, after he was settled at the crease, was in no mood to let the good start go to waste and added 45 runs to the scorecard off just 29 balls by the end of the 18th over. 

As Gayle stepped upto ball his third over, Warner could only manage two runs off the first three balls. It was then that he decided that he had had enough and switched his stance to go right-handed. On the very first ball that he faced right handed, Warner smashed Gayle straight back over his head for a six to bring up his second half-century of the tournament.

However, he was not. In fact, far from it, he wanted to give it another go. And so he did. On the fifth ball of the over, Gayle decided to toss the ball up on middle stump which was met by a paddle sweep by Warner that took the ball past the square leg fence. With his new found confidence, Warner decided to take on Gayle one more time playing with his “weaker hand”. And he delivered yet again but this time with a completely new shot as he reverse swept the big West Indian for a boundary behind point.

With the World Cup coming up in a few months, not only do teams now have to worry about usually destructive David Warner but also the “Right Handed” one.
