Dhoni proved to be India’s match-winner for the second game in a row as his third half-century of the series led India to a 2-1 series victory. It was an unprecedented achievement for India, but it wouldn’t have been possible without a bit of luck on offer. Dhoni was dropped twice in the game and two run-out chances went haywire. To further compound that, Australia were also deprived of a chance in the 29th over of the run-chase when the former Indian skipper clearly nicked a ball, but none other than Glenn Maxwell could notice it. 

Dhoni, who started slow once again, tried to break the shackle against Peter Siddle against whom he came down the track thinking it would hold its line. However, the ball angled in after landing and that seemed to be sneaking in between bat and pad. Dhoni turned 180 degree after the shot and instantly got back into his position, keeping his calm demeanour. 

Although Peter Siddle started appealing for it, it was without intent as he instantly stopped and went back to his bowling stride. One man confident of the dismissal was Glenn Maxwell who was fielding at backward point. The local boy started celebrating instantly, only to be demotivated by his teammates.

However, replays suggested that there was a line on the RTS spike and HotSpot attested the same. Dhoni got yet another life to add insult to Australia’s injury.
