The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to reward the Indian cricket selectors for getting the squad combination right for India’s historic victory against Australia recently. This Indian team became the first one to not lose a series in any format against Australia in Australia.

After India won their first ever Test series in Australia, the players and support staff of the team were rewarded for the performance. Not stopping there the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) led by the Committee of Administrators(CoA) has extended the reward to the National selectors too and have commended their work.

“It has been decided that the selection committee comprising of five members will get a bonus of Rs 20 lakh each,” stated a release from BCCI.

India won the Test and ODI series against Australia with a 2-1 scoreline in both the formats. The CoA chief Vinod Rai has stated that the cash rewards are a reward for the balanced side the selectors gave the management to choose from. He added that the selected players went about their business without any fear.

“We are extremely proud of the way Team India have performed in Australia. We had announced cash rewards for cricketers and support staff earlier and are now rewarding selectors.

"The five men have played a crucial role in picking a balanced Indian squad and offering the team management enough options to work around different combinations. The boys chosen to represent the Indian team went about their task in a fearless manner and stood up in challenging situations,” Rai was quoted as saying by scroll.in.

The other members of the committee, Diana Edulji too praised the selectors for getting their combinations right even getting the replacements for non-performing players.

“Each member who has played a role in India’s recent triumphs in Australia needs to be appreciated,” Edulji said.

The ICC Cricket World Cup is scheduled to start from May 30 later this year. Stating the same Edulji said that selection of the Indian team focusing on the multinational event is praiseworthy. She also commended the selectors for getting the right youngsters in the team.

“With the ICC Cricket World Cup just about four months away, the three-match ODI series in Australia provided excellent preparation for the Indian team. The selectors have been focusing on a core group of cricketers that will make the cut at the showpiece event. I congratulate them for picking some fine young talents, who performed brilliantly on their first tour of Australia.”
