Mohammed Shahzad has always been a big MS Dhoni fan and always tries to pull off the exact same thing that what Dhoni does on the field. While he had already mastered Dhoni’s helicopter shot to perfection, the Afghan cricketer inflicted a Dhoni-like back-flick to dismiss Mizanur Rahman in the BPL.

All the antics that Mohammed Shahzad pulls off on the field have one thing in common - the vivid joy that he provides to the millions. Since the day Afghanistan made it to the T20 World Cup a decade ago, he maintained that he was a huge MS Dhoni fan and meeting him was the greatest moment of his life. And through his carefree, jovial and easy-going attitude, he continuously tried to learn from his idol and used that brilliantly against Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Just in the fourth over of Dhaka’s innings, Nayeem Hasan bowled a full delivery against which Mizanur Rahman came down the track and looked to whip that away over mid-wicket. However, he couldn’t understand the pitch of the ball correctly and found an inside edge onto his pad. The batsman didn’t know where the ball went when the ball was actually between him and the stumps.

When he was searching for the ball, Mohammad Shahzad got to the ball quickly and back-flicked it onto the stumps, in classic MS Dhoni style. The batsman was completely stunned by that and his only hope of survival was his bat landing position. Upon checking the replay, the third umpire found that the bat was in the air when the Afghan cricketer disturbed the woodwork and adjudged Rahman out.
