India vs New Zealand | Seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli motivate us to work hard, says Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav has stated that seniors like Rohit Sharma, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav motivate the youngsters in the team to work hard and keep themselves fit. The Yo-Yo fitness test has been a regular in the recent past, which the players have to clear to get play in India’s squad.
With the Yo-Yo test clearance being made mandatory to get a look-in into the Indian squad, the fitness levels of the Indian team as a whole has seen an improvement. Last year, when Ambati Rayudu failed the test before the series against England, he was dropped and was only brought into the team once he cleared the test. Hence, the current Indian team may be one of the fittest bunch any Indian team has seen in the recent past.
“The seniors motivate the youngsters a lot. When seniors such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav work hard, then even we get motivated,” said Kuldeep on Chahal TV, a section introduced by the BCCI.
Shubman Gill made his debut for India in the fourth ODI match against New Zealand early today and made nine runs in the match. He revealed that he personally goes through all the training programs assigned to him.
“I maintain myself through the training programs given to us. Our training is going on very well. I am feeling very good being a part of the team,” said Gill.
Rookie Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed who had to sit out of the squad after failing to impress in the limited chances he had got said that he keeps himself match-fit so that he can be ready to play a game whenever the team needs him. Ahmed bowled three overs against New Zealand today giving away 19 runs, not picking any wickets in the lopsided match which the hosts won.
“There are ODI matches coming up and I could get a chance to play anytime. So I have to keep myself fit at all times. Workout should be a habit, its like you brush your teeth every day, similarly you should work-out every day. I get motivated from inside,” said Khaleel.
