ICC World Cup 2019 | I tick all the boxes in the nets, reveals Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah revealed that he practices every possible situation in the nets so that he can execute them to perfection in matches with the Indian team. Bumrah picked up four wickets in the win against Bangladesh and is just one wicket away from crossing the 100-wicket milestone in ODI cricket.
India ran out comfortable winners by a 28-run margin in the match against Bangladesh on Tuesday as they secured a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The Indian bowling, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, was essential to India’s win yesterday as they put in yet another impressive performance.
Bumrah, who has accrued 14 wickets from seven games at this year’s World Cup, revealed how he practices each and every possible situation in the nets that helps him execute them to perfection during matches.
"Whenever I practice in the nets, I practice each and every situation - be it with the new ball, be it with the old ball, or death bowling at the death.
"I tick all the boxes in the nets. In the match, it's all about execution and keeping a clear head. All of that preparation helps me in the matches. If the work ethic is good, then execution becomes much easier," Bumrah told reporters at the post-match press conference yesterday, reported Cricbuzz.
Bumrah, who ended the match against Bangladesh with figures 4/55 from his 10 overs, added that he prefers keeping things simple as he looks forward to enjoying his maiden World Cup outing with the Indian team.
"I try to keep things simple. Reading and analyzing the wicket as soon as possible is important. Sometimes you run after wickets, but I focus on team goals -- what the team wants me to do right now.
"Not chasing success, I want to focus on my process. If I do that, eventually everything gets sorted out. This is my first World Cup so I'd like to play as many games as possible... The more matches you play, the more you enjoy," Bumrah added.
