Australian skipper Aaron Finch revealed that he is expecting an aggressive and entertaining game against the Caribbean on Thursday. He stated that the team will be prepared to face the barrage of short balls much like in the warm-up game and thus be on the front foot against their fast bowlers.

When it comes to showing aggression and passion on the field, no teams in the world could compare to Australia and West Indies. The two are known for playing a fierce and lethal brand of cricket meant to throw the opposition off balance right from the word go, and things will be no different when the two face off against each other at Trent Bridge tomorrow.

"I think it'll be an aggressive game, no doubt. West Indies play an entertaining brand of cricket and we feel as though we do the same thing so I think it'll be a bit of a feeling-out process,” Finch quoted.

Both the teams won their tournament openers comfortably. While Australia were on the front foot throughout the match against Afghanistan before driving it home with an easy 7 wicket victory in the end, West Indies put on a show as they rattled Pakistan, reducing them to an embarrassing total of 105. The hard-hitting batsmen took a little less than 14 overs to chase it down.

“No doubt they will come hard at the bat, they always do. It is probably one of their main strengths, trying to put teams on the back foot early. So, if we can put the ball in the right area and get a couple of wickets that will be key. And with the bat, they are going to come hard and aggressively, they always do. So, it'll just be about playing the situation and not trying to overthink it or play the game in your head before it has started," Finch said about the West Indies team.

The highlight of the game against Pakistan was an exhibition of short balls by the West Indies pacers. Pakistan did not have a clue on how to defend against them and kept giving away their wickets, unable to handle the aggression. Australia, on the other hand are better suited to facing such bowling considering the pitches at their home and hence, their win against their next opposition in the warm-up match had not come as a surprise as they had managed to chase down the target of 230 with 7 wickets in hand and 69 balls to spare,

"Yeah, it wasn't much different in the warm-up match as well. It is obviously going to be a tactic of theirs and a plan,” Finch said referring to their tactic of bowling bouncers.

“We will be as well-prepared as we can be. I think over the last little while we have been aware that teams are going to use it [the short ball] a lot more and that is one of our plans, so we have been facing a lot of it in the nets as well. So, we'll be as well-placed as we can be," he added.
