Yuvraj Singh has expressed his desire to play in foreign T20 leagues around the world and has sought permission from the BCCI in a formal letter to the board. This comes only a week after the Yuvraj announced his retirement from international cricket during an event held in Mumbai.

After a tough run post the 2011 World Cup, that included a battle for survival against cancer, Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from international cricket last week. He may not don the blue jersey again but he has no intention of stopping himself from playing the game elsewhere. The Punjab batsman has expressed his willingness to play T20 leagues in different countries around the world.

"I want to play T20 cricket. At this age I can manage to play some kind of fun cricket. I want to go and enjoy my life. It's been too stressful just thinking about my international career, performing and big tournaments like the IPL," Yuvraj was quoted as saying by PTI.

Active Indian players are barred by the BCCI from playing in foreign T20 leagues. Offers from such leagues around the globe seem to have played a role in Yuvraj announcing his retirement. The PTI report said that the 37-year-old wrote out a formal note seeking permission from the BCCI on Thursday.

After retirement from international and first-class cricket, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan were allowed to play in T10 league in the UAE.
