ICC World Cup 2019 | India’s match against Afghanistan expected to be free from rain
According to the weather forecast reports, Saturday’s match between India and Afghanistan at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground will not be interrupted by rain. The news is being received well by fans all around the world considering the disruptions poor weather has caused so far in the tournament.
India will tomorrow face off against emerging continental rivals Afghanistan in the 28th match of the ongoing World Cup. While India has so far remained unbeaten in the tournament and has seven points from four matches, Afghanistan has had quite contrasting fortunes and are yet to open their account in the mega event.
India has already had a match washed out against New Zealand at Trent Bridge without even a ball being bowled. Incidentally, this means the Kiwis are the only team yet to lose in the competition apart from the Men in Blue.
In its 44 year history, only a couple of World Cup matches had been washed out whereas the present edition itself has seen four matches being called off. This surprising statistic has led to a lot of widespread criticism of the ICC for keeping the tournament in England even though the weather problems during this time of the year were no secret.
Fortunately, cricket fans do not have much to worry about for tomorrow’s game. Latest weather reports suggest that it is expected to be sunny when the match starts at 10:30 BST (15:00 IST). An hour and a half later, the sky may turn cloudy but no rainfall is expected to take place. Temperature is forecasted to range from 13 degrees celsius to 20 degrees celsius. The news would especially be pleasing for Indian fans since their country is the overwhelming favourite for tomorrow’s encounter.
A win tomorrow could see India leapfrog England and New Zealand to second spot provided they achieve it with a good enough net run rate to surpass the Black Caps in the table.
