ICC World Cup 2019 | Orange jersey is one-off, blue remains our colour, says Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has stated that he is not fussed about the colour of the kit while adding that blue remains the team’s primary colour while orange jersey is one-off. The Indian team will sport a Orange-Blue jersey for their World Cup match against England on Sunday due to ICC’s home and away game rules.
Tomorrow, against England, the Virat Kohli-led team will sport an Orange-Blue jersey considering ICC’s home and away game rules state that every team needed to have two different coloured clothes. The men in blue have decided to swap their blue jersey with an orange-dominated jersey which created a needless controversy back home. However, Kohli stated that blue remains the team’s primary colour while the orange jersey is one-off.
“I quite like it, I think it’s right up there. For me, it would be eight. Honestly, I’m not saying it for the sake of it. I really like it. The contrast is very nice,” Kohli was quoted as saying by Times of India.
“For one game, it’s fine. I don’t think permanently we’d be heading in that direction because Blue has always been our colour, very proud to wear that. For a change and looking at the occasion, it’s a very smart kit.”
MS Dhoni copped a lot of criticism after the Afghanistan clash but made a decent comeback against the Windies side, with his 56 being one of the reasons behind India posting a respectable total. Kohli revealed that Dhoni worked hard in the nets after the Afghanistan match and saved the team from blushes against Windies after a middle-order collapse.
“After the last game he went into the nets, he worked hard, he put in a performance, got us to a winning total & we won the game, we got 2 points. So we are very very happy & comfortable with where we stand as a team & how the batting is going at the moment.”
“We have total belief in him. He has stood up for the team many times, especially if you look at this calendar year & performances he has given. I don’t think it’s fair to point out 1-2 performances which anyone can falter with the bat. We’re not looking too much into it,” the Indian skipper added.
