VIDEO | Virat Kohli moves from loud appeal to DRS refusal after MS Dhoni disapproval

It is not a secret anymore that Virat Kohli trusts MS Dhoni more on DRS appeals more than he believes his own eyes. Today, that was wide in the open as the Indian skipper appealed hard for a dismissal, but once Dhoni told him not to go for it, he went against Kuldeep, who looked sure of a wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav had a good outing in the middle and made the Australian batsmen suffer to no end. Despite Alex Carey and Nathan Coulter-Nile trying to score some runs, his scrambled seam and googlies were not easy to counter, and Carey, especially, failed to understand them.

On the penultimate ball of the 44th over of the innings, Carey tried to play a reverse slap, but he failed terribly in his pursuit as the ball went on to hit his pads. Kuldeep Yadav and Virat Kohli were loud in their appeal, and while the former seemed to have been confused by that, one would really finding it tough to see any lack of confidence from the Indian skipper.

The umpire, however, was not interested in it, which forced Kuldeep to ask Kohli to go for the DRS which was unused then. Kohli directly turned to MS Dhoni asking for his decision, who told Kohli that it might have missed the line and would be a waste of a review if the team had gone for it. The confident Kohli suddenly turned different instantly as he decided not to go upstairs despite Kuldeep repeatedly asking for it.

The replay attested to Kohli’s trust on Dhoni as the ball, after pitching, had bounced off above the stumps and was outside the off-stump as well.
