Former Kings XI Punjab bowler Mohit Sharma was ecstatic at the prospect of playing for Chennai Super Kings for the second time in his IPL career. The Haryana pacer had made his IPL debut six years ago for the Chennai-based side and ended the season with a tally of 20 wickets from 15 matches.

Mohit Sharma burst onto the Indian Premier League scene in 2013 when he made his debut for MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. The Haryana lad picked up a total of 20 wickets from 15 games in his maiden IPL. Sharma was picked up by Kings XI Punjab for the 2016 season of the IPL and represented the Mohali-based franchise for two seasons. However, the talented bowler was once again bought by CSK who shed out a massive sum of five crore rupees for him.

Sharma, who has a total of 90 wickets from 84 matches in the IPL, revealed that he is lucky to be back in the CSK dugout and is looking forward to the season ahead.

“It feels wonderful to return to the club you first played for. It always holds a special place in your heart. I am lucky to be playing for CSK again. Almost all of the cricketing fraternity would agree with me when I say this is the best club out there.

“There is a fair chance of CSK finishing top again. Even last year, they said it was the grandfather side, but look what happened. It is correct that for the shorter format you need young legs, but is it always about them? No, you need experienced guys as well. The game changes within minutes and if there is added pressure as a veteran you know how to deal with the situation precisely,” Mohit said in an interview to SportStar.

Sharma was also part of the Indian squad that played the 2015 World Cup in Australia under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The Haryana pacer did a commendable job assisting Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami and also claimed 13 wickets in the process. The 30-year lavished praise on his CSK captain stating that Dhoni is the real ‘Bahubali’.

“Bahubali is how you aptly describe Mahi bhai. He is like the head of the family, taking care of those who are younger. He guides everyone, asking them to work on errors whenever necessary,” Mohit added.
