IPL 2019 | Higher the scores, more DC will fancy their chances against CSK, says Harsha Bhogle

Harsha Bhogle has stated that Delhi Capitals will be in the game as long as it is a high-scoring battle because it helps their cause big-time. However, Bhogle has warned the table toppers about the possible repercussions of facing a trial by spin as it will help Chennai Super Kings’ strengths.

While four teams are still in contention for the remaining top two spots, Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings have a proper first world clash in order to confirm a berth in the top two positions on the points table. While both the teams have been convincing in their campaign, CSK are more dependent on MS Dhoni and a possibility of the skipper being out with an injury added to their woes. Analysing both sides' strengths and weaknesses, Harsha Bhogle has written that DC have a chance if it is a high-scoring game.

"The higher the scores in that game, the more DC will fancy their chances, the lower the scores, the greater the emphasis on spin, the more CSK come into their own. It is nice for the IPL that both teams have their lead South African bowlers available till the end. (Kagiso) Rabada and (Imran) Tahir occupy different ends of the age and experience spectrum; but in their contrasting styles, they have been key players this year and could well decide which way this big game goes," he concluded.

CSK have lost four matches in the league so far and in a couple of them, Dhoni was not in the team. With the skipper taking over the major rebuilding work in the middle overs, it has become difficult for CSK to regroup themselves in his absence. Bhogle pointed out that CSK have started looking a bit vulnerable and Delhi are playing with a swagger.

"In the last couple of weeks, the mighty CSK have started looking a bit vulnerable and the usual minnows, Delhi, are playing with a swagger. It happens every year in the IPL. The nonchalance, even carelessness of the early games gives way to scrappiness as the playoffs beckon. Forget the points, suddenly the humble second decimal in the net run rate is courted. And a quiet voice in the interiors of a dressing room will wonder aloud if a little more urgency, a spoonful of ruthlessness, earlier on mightn’t have come in handy,” Bhogle said.
