Pacer Mohammed Shami opined that bowling according to the wicket and varying the length is the key to deceive the batsmen. While former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar heaped praises on Mayank Agarwal, Gautam Gambhir pointed out that the balanced and potent Indian bowling line up as their strength.

Mohammed Shami seems to be on a roll this year in the longest format of the game as India continue its endeavour in the World Test Championship in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Shami has bagged 29 wickets in the championship in 6 matches at a strike rate of 32 as India completed a hattrick of innings wins in the competition.

With the historic maiden day-night Test of India under a week away, the Bengal pacer has revealed his secret recipe of success as well as the plan for the upcoming affair under lights. Shami shared that bowling according to the wicket is the key as he will look to unsettle the batsman by varying his lengths at the Eden Gardens as India play Bangladesh in the day-night Test match.

"What one thing bowlers should do is keep an eye on the wicket and how is it behaving, so what I do is as the pitch gets slower I keep pushing myself and when I notice that the batsman is uncomfortable I go over the top... so the length has to keep changing," TOI quoted Shami.

Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar was all praises for the double centurion of the first Test match, Mayank Agarawal, while he cautioned the youngster to stay on his feet now on throughout his Test career as the oppositions now have a measure of his strengths as well as weaknesses.

"He is enjoying Test cricket, this is his first year and hopefully he keeps scoring on the second year also because in the second season there is a lot more data available of you to the opposition. But he has been batting beautifully, the way he balances himself without falling on the offside as he plays so straight and his movement of the front and back foot has been fantastic making him the man in form who is full of confidence," Gavaskar said.

The bowling department of the No.1 Test side of the World, India has been on the forefront now as they have been playing a major role in the team’s six-match unbeaten streak. Gambhir hailed the perfect balance between pace and spin in the bowling line up as the key to their success and the threat they possess for the opposition.

"If you see other oppositions, some teams have got quality fast bowling attacks, some have quality spinners but if you look at this Indian side, they've got two quality spinners, three quality seamers plus Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who are not in the playing 11. So they've got proper 5 seamers plus Kuldeep Yadav which makes it 8 quality bowlers all capable of running through batting line-ups and that is why the Indian side has been able to take so many all-outs in the last 2 years," the Delhi lad pointed out.
