Twitter reacts as Ravindra Jadeja recreates 'worst delivery of all time' from 2015 to leave du Plessis in stitches

Ravindra Jadeja, especially at home, has been a revelation over the course of the last six years, often tormenting the opposition batters with his turn. However, on the way, the left-armer seems to have added a new arsenal to his armoury, that of delivering a horror ball every now and then.

When South Africa toured India in 2015, little did they know that they were going to be beaten, bruised and battered by the spin of Ravindra Jadeja, who would end the series with 23 wickets in four matches at an astonishing average of 10.82. Coming into this series, the focus was once again on Jadeja and his battle with the Proteas batters, but the Saffers seemed to have learned a lesson or two this time around, just giving away one wicket to him in his first 21 overs.

It did look clear that Jadeja was struggling for rhythm and his struggles were epitomized by a moment early on Day 3, where he decided to recreate an infamous moment of his from four years ago. On the final ball of the 39th over, with both Faf du Plessis and Dean Elgar trying to rebuild the innings, skipper Virat Kohli threw the ball to Jadeja in hope of breaking the budding partnership.

However, after five probing deliveries, the man from Rajkot had a forgettable moment on the sixth ball. In his quest to finish the over, as Jadeja went through his action to deliver the ball, the cherry slipped out of his hand, with the ball hilariously landing first a few metres in front of the stumps at the non-strikers' end. And funnily enough, the ball bounced a staggering five times before it eventually reached the keeper, almost rolling over to the other end.

Skipper Du Plessis tried to take the mickey by threatening to attempt a hockey drive but pulled out at the very last moment. This moment of madness invoked smiles from every single player and even left du Plessis in stitches. Jadeja himself saw the funny side of things too. Eventually, the on-field umpire signaled it a no-ball due to the ball bouncing more than twice.

But more than everything, the highlight of the incident was that it was identical to a similar delivery he bowled to Jonny Bairstow in 2015, which was pointed out on television by the host broadcaster. A forgettable moment for Jadeja indeed and well, we're pretty sure that no player in world cricket likes to see embarrassing moments being recreated.

Here's what people on Twitter are talking about Ravindra Jadeja:
