World Cup hero for New Zealand with the ball, Lockie Ferguson is all set to return after a thumb injury he sustained back in August. Fergsuon shared his excitement to start what will be a long cricketing summer and will now be featuring in two warm up matches against England ahead of the T20Is.

Lockie Ferguson will make his return after a rather long injury break when he takes the field for New Zealand XI later this month. He will be playing two warm-up games against England before the T20 series.

Ferguson was a hero with the ball for the Kiwis in the recently concluded World Cup, scalping 19 wickets and helping his team reach the final, but since then hasn't featured on the field owing to a thumb injury he picked up in August. The two warm-up matches will be held at Lincoln on October 27 and 29 and will gear him up to stage a strong come back into the national team.

"The thumb has healed well and I'm looking forward to having a hit-out at Lincoln. While it's obviously frustrating to be side-lined, it's actually been good to take some time to freshen up and be able to return with plenty of motivation and energy. It's the beginning of a really big summer of cricket and it's exciting to be starting it against a quality England side," the pacer told ESPN Cricinfo.

He will be joined by his national teammates Colin Munro, who will captain the team, and Tim Seifert in the New Zealand XI for the warm-up games.
