My responsibility is to alarm Rishabh Pant when struggling, claims Ravi Shastri

Concentrating majorly on the World T20 that’s scheduled in Australia next year, Shastri has said that the youngsters will be given enough matches and time in the team to settle down well before the ICC tournament. And taking Rishabh Pant as an example, Shastri said that the criticism of the 21-year-old year is only to push him back in form.

Pant, who still remains Dhoni's replacement across all formats, is India's first-choice wicket-keeper for the T20 World Cup. According to Shastri, India will not follow the chopping and changing policy.

"The team management will ensure there's a sense of security among the pool of players and we will also ensure that if there's any lack of communication between the selectors and the players, the team management will step in and make sure that everybody's on the same page at all times. Look at Rishabh for instance - it is my responsibility to get him back to his best when he's struggling. I have the right to scold him when I'm unhappy as much as I'm sure I'll give him a standing ovation when he does well," Shastri was quoted as saying by the TOI.

Pant, was dropped from the Test squad for the recently-concluded Test series against South Africa and replaced by Wriddhiman Saha, has been named in both the T20I and Test squads for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh, starting on November 3.
