PAK vs SL | Rawalpindi, Karachi proposed as venues for Sri Lanka Tests

Pakistan Cricket Board has stated that Rawalpindi and Karachi could be the possible venues for Sri Lanka's Test series against Pakistan later in December this year. Test cricket is finally set to return to Pakistan after a horrific terror attack on the Sri Lankan players had abandoned the Test match between the two teams at Lahore back in 2009. 

According to reports by ESPN Cricinfo, the PCB is awaiting confirmation from Sri Lanka cricket regarding the venues and also regarding the players that are reluctant to tour Pakistan. Sri Lanka have made cricket coming back to Pakistan possible with a recently concluded ODI and T20 series which was played in Lahore and Karachi in front of packed crowds.

Although they sent a weaker team as many Sri Lankan seniors pulled off from touring Pakistan, they whitewashed the home team 3-0 in the T20I series, leading to the sacking of Sarfaraz Ahmed from the T20 team. These positive results for the Sri Lankan team have surely played a part in convincing Sri Lankan Cricket to play a Test series in Pakistan.

Test cricket will return to Rawalpindi after 15 long years as Pakistan last played a Test here against India in 2004. Lahore has been discarded as a possible venue maybe because of the seasonal smog or lack of daylight. Karachi will host the second Test. With the ghosts of the terrorist attacks of 2009 left behind, Test cricket is set to emerge as a winner as it will visit Pakistan after ten long years.
