Pakistan cricketers to contribute 5 million to government’s fund to combat COVID 19 pandemic

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared that the players and the employees of the governing body will contribute to the government’s emergency fund in order to aid it in combating the widespread outbreak of the dreaded virus. As of now the number of COVID-19 victims in the country has gone well past 1000 and is rising at an alarming rate.

PCB chairman Ehsan Mani shared that the centrally contracted payers of the board will be contributing Rs 5 million to the government’s emergency fund. Moreover, PCB employees up to the level of senior managers will be donating one day’s salary while employees as general managers and higher on will be donating that of two days.

“The PCB will collect all these funds and deposit it to the government’s coronavirus fund. It is the history of the cricket board that we always stand by the government in difficult times,” Mani was quoted by Sportstar.

Mani believes that it’s important for the nation to stand by the government and support all precautionary steps initiated by them during the pandemic. The governing body has already given its high-performance centre in Karachi at the National Stadium to be used by paramedical staff working at the special coronavirus hospital set up at the expo centre in the city.
