IPL 2020 | Pain has settled down and scan reports are encouraging, reveals R Ashwin

R Ashwin had a roller coaster ride in Delhi Capitals IPL 2020 opener against Kings XI Punjab, a side he was captaining as late as last year. He started off with a bang as he sent back two batsmen in space of six deliveries, but then came anti-climax as the off-spinner suffered a jerk on his left shoulder in his bid to stop a run off his own bowling when he dived, something which didn't go well for the ace Indian Test spinner.

When he left with the Capitals' physio Patrick Farhart, there were speculations that he might even miss the whole season of the IPL given he looked in a lot of pain but now in what comes as a big boost for the Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals, the off-spinner has tweeted that the pain has settled down and even the scan reports are encouraging. This could mean that Ashwin could make a comeback sooner than anticipated.

"I was in pain as I left the field last night, but the pain has settled down and the scan reports are pretty encouraging too. Thanks for all your love and support," Ashwin tweeted.

Earlier, Shreyas Iyer had given an update on Ashwin's injury citing, "I briefly spoke to Ashwin, and Ashwin said he'll be ready for the next game. But at the end of the day it's the physio's decision. He's a strong-minded guy and hopefully he will be available."

In his very first over, the offie first took the wicket of Karun Nair, who horribly mistimed a sweep shot, and then went on to castle dangerman Nicholas Pooran's with an arm-ball, which deceived the southpaw for all money. Delhi Capitals will play their next game against Chennai Super Kings on September 25 in Dubai.
