Ahead of the fifth Test between India and England in Manchester, assistant physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar has been tested Covid-19 positive. Earlier, head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R. Sridhar had all been tested positive and are currently in isolation.

The Indian cricket team has been hit by yet another covid-19 case, as assistant physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar has been tested positive ahead of the final Test match in Manchester. The test result was known on Thursday, September 9, which resulted in cancellation of the practice session.

The Indian staff and players were asked to stay in their hotel rooms untill further notice. Parmar took a test after experiencing COVID symptoms on Wednesday after the training.

Parmar, the second physiotherapist in the Indian medical team had to take charge as lead physio, after Nithin Patel was identified as a close contact to head coach Ravi Shastri. Earlier, Shastri was tested positive for Covid-19 and was directed to an isolation period of 10 or more days until he recovers completely.

He along with bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar was under quarantine during the fourth Test at the Oval. The trio didn't travel to Manchester for the final Test Match.

As per UK government rules, those who return positive RT-PCR tests are required to isolate for ten days and return two negative tests. That means Shastri, Arun and Sridhar will have to stay on in London even after the fifth Test concludes in Manchester.

The entire Indian team has gone under another round of testing on Thursday morning and the results are awaited.
