Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has stated that India have a disappointing record against South Africa at home in T20Is and they have been the Achilles Heel for hosts. Chopra further added that the series is going to be interesting as South Africa have grown in stature in recent times.

India are all set to take on South Africa in the upcoming five-match T20I series from June 9. Overall, India have played 15 T20Is against South Africa, winning nine out of them. The opposition won the remaining six but they enjoy a fine record in India. While hosting South Africa in T20Is India managed to win just one game from four matches and the solitary win came in September 2019 by seven wickets.

Aakash Chopra referred to these stats and said that South Africa have been always a strong opposition to India at home. He also added that the series will be interesting to watch as South Africa have grown their stature in recent times.

"If we see our overall head-to-head against South Africa, we have played 15 out of which we have won nine and they have won six, so it is a very good record. But if we talk about home, we have played four matches, won just one and South Africa has won three. We don't have a worse record than this against any other team at home," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"South Africa has been our Achilles heel. They are the ones who trouble us. South Africa has grown in confidence, South Africa has grown in stature. This series is going to be very interesting if we see their World Cup.”
