Clearing the ropes has been one of the primary reasons behind the increased popularity of short-format cricket. Heinrich Klaasen just exemplified the trend with the longest six of the 2024 Indian Premier League as he took the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers for a tour around Chinnaswamy.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru was center stage to some dynamic batting from the Sunrisers Hyderabad top-order as RCB bowlers were teed up by Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abhishek Sharma in the first innings. While the Aussie went on to bludgeon his maiden IPL ton in just 39 balls, Klaasen carried the baton with some exceptional ball striking with one of them being the longest hit of the season.

On the second ball of the 17th over, Lockie Ferguson bowled a fuller than a length delivery near the off stump that Klaasen picked early and smoked it over the bowler’s head. He made it look very easy on the eyes with a beautiful backlift and bat swing that almost resonated a golf tee shot. The hit was so neat that the ball went on to thud the rooftop of the stadium and soon after, the big screen displayed the distance as 106 meters. The Twitterverse was awed by such brutal ball-striking from Klaasen, sending the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
