The Board of Control for Cricket in India has revealed several changes to the squads for the initial round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy. Navdeep Saini will take Mohammed Siraj’s place and Gaurav Yadav will step in for Umran Malik while no replacement was announced for Ravindra Jadeja.

‌Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik have been sidelined for the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy due to illness. Navdeep Saini from Delhi will take over Siraj's spot in Team B, while Gaurav Yadav of Madhya Pradesh will replace Malik in Team C, which is captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Additionally, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will not participate in the opening round of the tournament. The BCCI has not disclosed the reason for Jadeja's absence from Team B.

The first round of the Duleep Trophy, a major four-day domestic cricket competition, is set to begin on September 5. Team A, led by Shubman Gill, will compete against Team B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Concurrently, Team C will face Team D, captained by Shreyas Iyer, at the Rural Development Trust Stadium A in Ananthapur.

The tournament will feature the return of Test specialists to domestic cricket, following a BCCI directive for their participation during breaks from international duties. Notable players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and R Ashwin have been permitted to skip the first-round games to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. India will face Bangladesh in two Test matches from September 19 to October 1, marking the start of their home season.
