The advancements in technology have done a world of good in sports keeping the fans engaged. One of its latest developments, the stump mic, happened to catch Virat Kohli sledging young Nathan McSweeney during the third session of the pink ball Test’s opening day at the Adelaide Oval.

India struggled to post 180 runs on the board during the first innings, thanks to Shubman Gill and KL Rahul’s 69-run stand followed by Nitish Kumar Reddy’s late blitz with the bat. With Mitchell Starc picking up a six-wicket haul with the pink cherry, the Indian bowlers anticipated a similar favour off the conditions in the second innings. Despite bowling in disciplined areas, the Indian pacers failed to get the early breakthrough leading to Kohli’s intervention disguised in the form of a chirpy character.

Despite a four off a fuller delivery in the first over, Bumrah seemed lethal with the new ball during his first three overs. As the Aussie openers tried to be watchful against the Indian spearhead, a back of a length ball near the off stump almost got the better of McSweeney on the final ball of the last over. The right-hander did try to fend at it with soft hands but the seaming outward delivery whiskered past the outside edge prompting Kohli to stroll near the batter and say, “he’s got no clue, he’s got no clue”. To come into the Aussie territory and send down spine-chilling comments, the Twitterverse was left abuzz.

 Sledge time

Why?

So well

Peak agression

Little more runs

Pure class
