BGT | Twitter in splits as Rohit reminds 'gully cricketer' Jaiswal of his standards
Be it London or Melbourne, Indians have always staunchly believed in keeping true to their roots and the country's cricketing culture is no different. On Boxing Day at the iconic MCG, Rohit Sharma used typical Indian references to make Jaiswal, fielding at forward short leg, field properly.
With a packed MCG waiting for the Boxing Day Test, Australia handed a debut to teenager Sam Konstas. The youngster did not disappoint as he went on to score his maiden half century and even went as far to hit Jasprit Bumrah for a six. An out of form Usman Khawaja also found his feet in the series as well as he too managed to cross the 30 run mark, notching up his first fifty of the series.
With both of them back in the hut, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith picked up the pieces. Rohit Sharma smelt blood and decided to add a forward short leg into the mix - handing Yashasvi Jaiswal the responsibility. However, with Jadeja bowling into the channel, not only was the Indian opener not in a crouching position, he even jumped up before Labuschagne blocked the ball.
Rohit was not too pleased with the effort and told the youngster off. “Aye Jaisu, Gully cricket khel raha hai kya? (Hey Jaisu, are you playing gully cricket?),” Rohit remarked at Jaiswal. “Neeche bethke reh. Jab tak ball khelega nahi, uthne ka nahi. Neeche bethke reh (Stay in the crouching position. Till the batter hits his shot, do not get up. Stay in the crouching position),” the skipper further instructed.
The Twitterati found this conversation to be hilarious and jumped onto social media to have their say.

He's been dismissed down the leg side multiple times this series.
What sort of captaincy is this from Rohit Sharma?

Draw
A draw at Gabba was a huge result. After that, Indian team in a bid to look aggressive may have inadvertently crossed the line. Starting from Virat's incident at the airport to Jadeja refusing to answer in english, we were overdoing it. We are looking like a bunch of sore losers.

Last one
Last tour, KD didn’t get a game coz Ind opted 4 proper pacers, even debuting net bowlers. Now, with all resources at bay,
— Vibhor Jha (@vibhorjhatweets) December 26, 2024
we’ve gone defensive—playing just 3 pacers - Jadeja, Sundar, & NKR in the XI.
Washi isn’t a full batter or strike bowler, and NKR isn’t a proper 4th pacer.
