BGT | Twitter celebrates as Kohli goes on leaving spree against balls outside off

Adaptability is an essential trait of the fast-paced world where technological advancements leave nothing unexposed in sports. Recognising the need for change, Virat Kohli altered his technique against balls outside the stump at the MCG, proving that even the best must evolve with time.

In response to Australia’s formidable 474 runs first innings total, India failed to get a desirable start as captain Rohit Sharma failed to offer half-a-decent start. Pat Cummins outsmarted his opposite number followed by a peach stuff to leave KL Rahul bemuse for 24. With India in trouble, Virat Kohli came to the rescue under Yashasvi Jaiswal’s presence. What was noticeable is that the former Indian captain reflected composure in his batting body language by leaving plenty of balls outside the stumps.

The deliveries outside the stumps have tested Kohli in the second half of his cricketing career. The issue persisted during India’s tour down under but Kohli seemed to be avoiding the tease on the second day of the fourth Test. Scott Boland tested him on the third and fourth ball that he faced but Kohli seemed keen on letting the widish deliveries go. Moments later, Pat Cummins tried to lure him as well but the Indian stalwart seemed to leave deliveries until he got one in the slot and executive a glorious cover drive in the 21st over. The Twitterverse lauded the Delhi-bred’s approach as he opted an unusual route to counter the Aussies.
