The Border Gavaskar Trophy has a history of creating stars and heroes for the new generation of cricket fans in both countries. Nitish Kumar Reddy has already put his name forward to be added to this list as he finally ended his bad luck of being stuck in his forties with his maiden fifty at the G.

Walking into bat with India looking down the barrel at 191/6, Reddy knew he had to produce another valiant knock. The task turned herculean when Ravidra Jadeja’s 17 run innings came to an end with India still trailing by 253 runs and three wickets in the kitty.

The 21 year old started off quickly with 11 runs coming off the first 12 balls that he faced. However, understanding the situation, the youngster reeled in his attacking instincts and played an innings expected off a veteran. Having scored three 40+ scores in the series so far, he needed to exceed those numbers to bring India back into the game.

Reddy played a very watchful innings, not scoring a boundary in 26 balls, not taking any risks at all but ultimately decided to have a pop on the third ball of the 83rd over. Seeing a Mitchell Starc full delivery pitching outside off stump, Reddy lofted his drive over point to bring up his maiden fifty in. To add the cherry to the cake, Reddy brought out the Pushpa 2 "Thaggede le" celebration.

Twitter could not hold back and poured all praise that they could on the social media network.
