Maintaining calm and composure is crucial when facing an onslaught from the opposition. However, this proved challenging for Kandy Falcons skipper Wanindu Hasaranga, who lost his cool when Dimuth Karunaratne misjudged an incoming ball and allowed it to race to the boundary for four.

Kandy Falcons skipper Wanindu Hasaranga won the toss in their first outing this season as Colombo Strikers openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shevon Daniel walked into bat. The duo didn’t have a great start and were dismissed within the powerplay. However, a 78-run partnership between Sadeera Samarawickrama and Muhammad Waseem propelled them to 95/2 in eight overs. Amidst their run flow, there was a moment in the 18th over when Hasaranga lost his cool over Dimuth Karunaratne, who misfielded an easy ball.

On the last ball of the 18th over, the Kandy skipper bowled a short delivery to Thisara Perera. The ball pitched around the fourth stump, and Perera gave himself some room to smack it over the bowler’s head. The shot was powerful as it sped past the long-off fielder Karunaratne, who misjudged its pace and allowed it to go for a four. As the ball crossed the rope, Hasaranga erupted in fury gesticulating animatedly at Karunaratne and pointedly reprimanding him to put better judgment in the field.

The incident quickly grabbed the attention of the Twitterverse, with many discussing Hasaranga’s outburst.
