Pacer Nuwan Thusara has been ruled out of the upcoming India versus Sri Lanka series after an injury fracture during training. This acted as an additional blow in the Sri Lankan contingent after Dushmantha Chameera was sidelined due to an injury, while Dilshan Madushanka has been summoned as cover.

Sri Lankan pacers have had a recent history of injuries with Chameera and Thusara being the latest ones. The former has been suffering from bronchiolitis and a respiratory disorder and will not be able to participate in the upcoming white-ball bilateral series. Asitha Fernando, who picked ten wickets in as many LPL 2024 games outing has been named as the speedster’s replacement.

“Dushmantha Chameera is still recovering from a bronchitis and respiratory infection he contracted, and hence will not be part of the T20I series,” Sri Lanka Cricket tweeted.

A day after Chameera’s non-inclusion, Thusara incurred a finger injury and it came out as a fracture, as per the medical reports. Dilshan Madushanka who missed the IPL 2024 for Mumbai Indians and the T20 World Cup campaign due to an injury, is fit and ready to fill Thusara’s void for the upcoming series.

Madushanka played six matches in the recently concluded LPL and scalped a couple of wickets.

India will tour Sri Lanka for three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting July 27.
