Time flies by and the bad moments do not last forever. The emotions for Hardik Pandya will take time to sink in after a tough time during the Indian Premier League paved the way for a rosy occasion with the all-rounder defending 16 runs in the last over and earning the captain’s love in Barbados.

Opting to bat first in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli’s gutsy 76 coupled with Axar Patel’s flamboyant 47 set up India’s 176-run total despite early setbacks. Similar to their counterparts, South Africa got off to a rocky start but fighting knocks from Quinton de Kock, Tristan Stubbs, and Heinrich Klaasen helped take them inches closer to the victory line. However, Indian pacers pegged back after the 15th over to ultimately win the game by seven runs. With India breaking the eleven-year-long losing streak, Hardik Pandya had tears flowing in his eyes after successfully defending 16 runs off the final over.

Following the game, each of the Indian team members broke into emotion with the Indian support staff rushing into the centre of the field. Hardik received warm hugs from all and everyone present there with captain Rohit blowing a kiss on his cheek while he was interviewed by the broadcasters. The fact that the audience booed the all-rounder during his Mumbai Indians days in IPL 2024, Hardik's redemption in national colours left the Twitterverse abuzz.
