CSK vs RR | Twitter reacts to Jadeja miffed at Theekshana after he casually fails to grab sitter

In the rare T20 where batters have to settle for being sedate on tricky decks, partnerships make or break a team's chances. Well aware of it, Ravindra Jadeja was under the impression he had earned Chennai a crucial breakthrough against Rajasthan, until Maheesh Theekshana embarrassingly let it slip.

Rajasthan Royals had to bide their time under Chennai's sweltering heat and humidity on Sunday afternoon after opting to bat first on a dry deck. Their openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal were largely kept at bay in a 43-run partnership before Simarjeet Singh got rid of the duo in successive overs, with the score eventually reading 61/2 at the halfway stage. However, there was much more batting to come with the in-form Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag seeming determined to work hard for their runs and gradually build up a partnership to sway momentum in their favour. At such a crucial juncture, the wily Ravindra Jadeja broke through the resilience in the 12th over, only to go unrewarded.

After giving away just eight runs in his first two overs, the left-arm spinner began his latest endeavour by floating a full delivery outside leg to tempt Parag into breaking the shackles. The Assam batter obliged and launched a reverse sweep towards cover point but failed to get enough distance on the shot as Maheesh Theekshana converged onto the Kookaburara. However, the Sri Lankan had underestimated the challenge as a seemingly half-hearted sprint meant Theekshana was still side-on as the ball dipped on him and a callous two-handed attempt made the ball pop out of his palms. Theekshana still had a chance to redeem himself by grabbing the rebound, but the ball struck his chin and hit the deck much to Parag's relief.

Jadeja was evidently livid at his teammate for missing such a simple opportunity with agony writ large over his face and Twitterati was quickly all over the incident.

What have you done?

That's not the rifht one!

God!

That was golden opportunity to take him!

It was easy!

Yeah man!

Hahaha!

LOL!

May be!
