SRH vs PBKS | Twitter in awe as Sanvir risks concussion to grab valiant back-pedalling stunner

Old wisdom preaches bravery never goes out of fashion, and neither do stunning catches, especially those that come at a personal cost. Sanvir Singh made the Hyderabad crowd roar in disbelief on Sunday with a sensational backward dive against Punjab Kings to end Ashutosh Sharma's stay at the crease.

Punjab Kings rode on the back of explosive knocks from their top three and a rapid cameo at the end by stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma to put up 214/5 on the board after opting to bat first. However, the visitors seemed on course for an even bigger total through large parts of their innings but their momentum was disrupted at the death by the fall of four relatively quick wickets, with Ashutosh Sharma's dismissal in the 19th over the pick of the lot courtesy of Sanvir Singh's heroic catch.

The saga began when the batter attempted to welcome T Natarajan back into the attack by pummelling his off-cutter beyond the fence but the lack of pace meant the Kookaburra shot up high in the air. However, it seemed to be headed into no man's land beyond the 30-yard-circle even as Sanvir Singh tracked back from short extra-cover. Just as the ball seemed to be going over his head, the 27-year-old valiantly leapt in the air while angling backwards and firmly caught it within his two palms, even though he ended up banging his head hard on the deck. Pat Cummins, who was witnessing all the chaos from a couple of steps away, immediately walked up to his teammate with a large grin on his face and helped Sanvir up to commend him while the crowd was wide-eyed with surprise.

Twitterati was no different and heaped tons of praise on an exceptional take.
