Nothing pumps up a fast bowler more than taking down an in-form batter on the grandest stage. Such was the scene in the IPL 2024 final between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad where Mitchell Starc dismissed the red-hot Abhishek Sharma with a magnificent delivery in the first over.

‌After 65 days of intense action, all eyes were now on the grand finale of the Indian Premier League 2024, with the Kolkata Knight Riders clashing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chepauk. The Orange Army's skipper, Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. Sunrisers' openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were determined to give their team a strong start hoping to overcome their recent struggles in the opening partnerships. However, their plans were thwarted early on as Sharma fell victim to a sensational delivery from Mitchell Starc in the very first over.

On the fifth ball of the first over, the Aussie speedster unleashed a pinpoint inswinger aimed at the middle stump. The Punjab batter tried to defend with a straight bat as he moved forward. However, Starc’s masterful delivery was so perfect that the ball moved inside as soon as it pitched, beating the outside edge. It then sneaked past Sharma’s bat and pad, clipping the top of the off stump. The 23-year-old was left stunned by Starc’s jaffa as he walked back to the pavilion cheaply. Meanwhile, Starc, elated by the big wicket, celebrated with his KKR teammates.

The Twitterverse erupted in awe at Starc's stunning delivery taking to social media to rave about the brilliant dismissal.
