Ahead of the mega auctions, IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans have appointed Parthiv Patel as their new assistant and batting coach. Patel will join forces with head coach and former teammate Ashish Nehra, taking over from Gary Kirsten, who served as the team's batting coach last season.

Parthiv Patel featured in 139 IPL matches, with his last appearance in the 2019 season for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Throughout his career, he also played for five other franchises: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians. Parthiv won the IPL twice, in 2015 and 2017 with Mumbai Indians.

Post-retirement, he worked as a scout for Mumbai Indians and pursued a career in commentary. Additionally, the Gujarat Titans have confirmed that Ashish Nehra will continue as their head coach for the upcoming season.

In their media statement, the franchise stated, “ We are thrilled to announce that former India cricketer Parthiv Patel has joined us as the Assistant Coach. Parthiv joins his former Indian teammate, Ashish Nehra, who continues as our head coach, creating a dynamic coaching duo for the Titans.”

Ahead of the mega auction later this month, Gujarat Titans have retained Rashid Khan as their top pick for ₹18 crores, while Shubman Gill agreed to a pay cut, securing a retention deal for ₹16.5 crores. Sai Sudharsan was brought back for ₹8.5 crores, and Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia were both retained for ₹4 crores each.
