A batter’s confidence can waver significantly after consecutive ducks following a century. India’s Sanju Samson epitomised the same in the third T20I against South Africa at Centurion where he once again got out on a silver duck, courtesy of Marco Jansen’s blazing good length delivery.

‌Under a clear, bright sky on a pitch known for favouring batters, India and South Africa took the field for the third T20I. Proteas skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl, sending Indian openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma out to bat. But India's start quickly faltered as Samson was dismissed by Marco Jansen in the very first over with a superb delivery from the left-armer.

On the second ball, Jansen unleashed a well-pitched good-length delivery on the leg-stump line. The ball was delivered cross-seam and it further straightened slightly after pitching. Samson aimed to defend but misread the line and the ball skidded low. Thereafter, the white rock bypassed his bat and clipped the leg stump. The Indian wicketkeeper looked stunned by the perfect delivery, while Jansen celebrated as South Africa claimed an early breakthrough. The dismissal sparked a buzz on Twitter, with fans discussing Jansen's delivery and Samson's misfortune.
