When you've already been fined for your on-field conduct in a previous match, caution is expected the next time you take the field. But Lucknow’s Digvesh Singh Rathi seemed unbothered by past penalties as he repeated his trademark "checklist" celebration after dismissing Mumbai’s Naman Dhir.

‌Chasing Lucknow’s total of 203/8, Mumbai Indians got off to a shaky start and lost openers Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton within the powerplay. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir steadied the innings with a brisk 50-run partnership, taking the score to 86/2 by the end of the eighth over. Just as the duo looked set to accelerate, Digvesh Singh Rathi stepped in with a timely breakthrough.

On the first ball of the ninth over, Rathi delivered a length ball outside off. Dhir, looking to work it on the leg side, was beaten on the inside edge as the ball crashed into the stumps. While the wicket shifted momentum back in Lucknow’s favour, it was Rathi’s celebration that drew attention once again. Repeating his now-familiar “checklist” gesture,  which had previously cost him 25% of his match fee for the celebration after dismissing Punjab’s Priyansh Arya.  The Delhi spinner’s unapologetic repeat of the gesture, despite prior sanctions, sparked fresh debate and sent social media into a frenzy.
