And now, Smriti Mandhana has set a new record in the T20I format for the India Women's team. This also shows the remarkable consistency of the Indian opener, who has been crucial to India's innings across different formats. Along with that, the record which has been achieved by Smriti Mandhana is only achieved by two other Indian players.
1. Smriti Joins RoKo in T20I Record
Smriti Mandhana was just a few runs short to reach the 4000 T20I runs benchmark in Women's cricket. And if she was able to do it, she would have been the first Indian player to reach this mark in the Women's T20I format. Smriti was able to complete it with the T20I match against Sri Lanka, which took place at Visakhapatnam.
Sri Lanka was able to score just 121 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In the chase, Smriti Mandhana started up with 25 runs off 25 balls before losing her wicket. This also helped her to achieve the record of 4000 runs in the T20I format. Now, she just stands behind Suzie Bates when it comes to the most runs in the T20I format for Women's.
And when it comes to the list of Indian players who have achieved this record, there are just two players. Now, Smriti Mandhana has also joined this list, as she breached this mark by scoring 4007 runs in total in her T20I career. With this, she also joins the T20 legends such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have already reached 4000 runs in this format.
