WPL | Lisa Keightley replaces Charlotte Edwards as head coach of Mumbai Indians

‌Lisa Keightley took over as head coach of the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League. The former Australian batter replaces Charlotte Edwards, who left after a three-season stint to take over the England women’s cricket team in April, earlier this year.

"It's an honour to join the Mumbai Indians, a team that has set the benchmark in the WPL," Keightley said in a release. "The culture of excellence and care is something I deeply admire. I look forward to working with this talented group to build on our success and continue inspiring on and off the field."

Edwards left MI after making it the best side in the short history of the WPL. After being appointed as head coach of the side ahead of the inaugural edition in 2023, she took them to two titles in three seasons, the latest coming in March this year.

Keightley will take over MI after coaching stints with Australia Women, England Women, and Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League. She has also been part of the Delhi Capitals’ setup in the WPL and tasted success recently with the Northern Superchargers, taking them to The Hundred Women’s title last month.

As a player, Keightley was a two-time World Cup winner with Australia, winning titles in 1997 and 2005. She has represented the Aussie Women in nine Tests, 82 ODIs and a solitary T20I game with more than 3000 runs across all formats.
