Abhishek Sharma was able to find his rhythm back in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. But while doing so, he didn't find his entire match winnings, as he was caught by the umpires using obscene language after his wicket. Eventually, he has now been fined 25% of his match fees.
SRH fans were delighted yesterday, as they were able to see Abhishek Sharma score runs for the team in the powerplay. He partnered well with Travis Head in the opening, but he was not able to convert his start to a big score. His wicket fell off in the 9th over, when Varun Chakravarthy took his catch.
While Chakravarthy was not good with the ball, he took an outstanding catch of Abhishek Sharma to dismiss him at 48. But Abhishek was not satisfied with the same, as he wanted to see the cleanliness of the catch. Being dissatisfied, he went on to use some obscene words in the heat of the moment, which caught the attention of the umpires.
Although the game proceeded, some action was set to be taken against Abhishek Sharma. After the match, the umpires decided what should be done for the same, discussing it with the match referee. And eventually, Abhishek Sharma was fined 25% of his match fees and handed 1 demerit point.
Our Take
Abhishek Sharma has been struggling to score runs lately in his favourite format. Last night he was doing well with the bat but couldn't convert it into a big score, which turned out to be a huge disappointment for him. The replays of Varun Chakravarthy showed different angles, which showed that his hands were beneath the ball.
But Abhishek Sharma was still not satisfied with the same. As he has been handed a demerit point and fined 25% of his match fees, the action taken by the referee and umpires was also up to the mark to maintain the spirit of the game.
